What is the best way to care for my jewelry?

For all jewelry other than Solid Gold Fine jewelry: Please remove your jewelry while exercising, showering and swimming. Avoid contact with perfumes, lotions or hair products. Even natural ones. Do not use harsh chemicals, bleach, oil, jewelry cleaners, or polishing cloths, this can affect the finishing. Bagatiba is not responsible for the maintenance of your jewelry.

Can I shower with my jewelry?

Our 'Eco-friendly' jewelry is waterproof! You can get it wet but avoid lotions and oils or they will turn quickly. Over time the Eco pieces will turn in color due to contact with natural body oils. For best care of 'gold filed' jewelry, do not shower with your items. Keep them in a cool dry place.

How should I clean my jewelry?

Please use a solution of warm water and detergent-free soap with a soft bristle brush.

Do I have a jewelry allergy?

Some people have allergic reactions to some plating. The most common is nickel-plating- possibly up to 10% of people react to nickel. Unfortunately nickel is used to color gold, as an alloy, and sometimes in the electroplating process. If allergy is a problem, most jewelry makers like to use surgical steel, sterling silver, vermeil, or gold-filled items. The plating on plain electroplated items is usually too thin.

My Jewelry is rusting, what do I do?

For best care, do not shower with your items. If your items do turn immediately, it can be cause by a metal-to-skin oil reaction. Each persons oils make metal react differently, in this case, it's not our responsibility to rerun or exchange your item. We apologize in advance.

My jewelry came scratched & looks worn.

Please read the description of each item before purchasing, some items have a 'vintage treatment' on them allowing for unique scratches, coloring & defects.

My jewelry is turning color, what do I do?

If your items turn immediately, it can be caused by a metal-to-skin oil reaction. Each persons oils can make each metal react differently. We are not responsible for your skins reaction to metal or vise versa. Feel free to use a mild jewelry cleaner on 14K Gold, & Gold Filled jewelry. Stainless Steel & Gold Plated jewelry will turn naturally over time, but there's no way to reverse this. The beauty of our stainless steel jewelry is that it's thick Gold Plated & when it turns, it fades to a lovely ombre of Gold & Silver.

My Jewelry is turning my skin green, what do I do?

Everyone's skin type is different. Some people have strong reactions to bronze, nickel & gold plating. If you are susceptible to this, please avoid buying non-solid gold or sterling silver jewelry. We do not offer refunds or returns for this reason. We apologize in advance.

What is Stainless Steel?

Stainless steel Jewelry - A steel alloy with a minimum of 10.5% chromium content by mass and a maximum of 1.2% carbon by mass. Stainless steels are most notable for their corrosion resistance aka rust-free.

What is Gold Filled?

Gold-filled Jewelry - Also called rolled-gold. These jewelry items are not actually filled with gold. They are made of a base metal (usually brass or copper) covered by sheets of gold in a mechanical bonding process. Effectively a thick coat of gold: the gold content is 5% or 1/20 of the total weight. Use gold-filled items for your top-of-the-line jewelry. Usually made with 14k gold, it is hard wearing. With reasonable care it will not peel or flake, and should last as long as solid 14k gold jewelry. It is safe for most people with sensitive skin.

What is Gold Plated?

Gold-plated Jewelry - A base metal such as steel or brass is dipped into a bath of electroplating solution, with a lump of solid gold. When an electric current is applied, a thin layer of gold is deposited on the metal. Since the plating is quite thin, the plate (and hence the color) on findings can wear off.

What is Sterling Silver?

Sterling Silver Jewelry - Sterling Silver is a mixture of pure silver and some other metal, usually copper. The resulting alloy gives the silver strength. The standard is at least 92.5% silver. Hence the .925 stamp you see on some sterling silver items.

What is the difference between 14K & 18K Gold?

14k gold is composed of 58.3% gold and 41.7% of other metals. 18k gold is composed of 75% gold, which is alloyed with other metals to make it strong enough for everyday wear.

What is the difference between Gold Filled & Gold Plated?

Gold filled material is the closest thing to gold. It is mixed. Gold filled items will fade and become darker over time but not turn to reveal a different metal underneath. Gold plated is a coat of gold over a lesser metal such as brass, copper or nickel. It is subject to color loss, quicker and easier than gold filled.

Is your jewelry pure gold?

Pure gold is too soft for everyday wear, so it is alloyed with a mixture of metals like silver, copper, nickel, and zinc to give it strength and durability. Karatage, denoted by a number followed by "k" indicates purity, or how much of the metal in a piece of jewelry is gold. Karatage is expressed in 24ths, making 24k gold, 100% gold.

What makes your products eco-friendly?

We use Stainless Steel because it doesn't harm the person making or wearing it & it's corrosion resistant. Tested & considering it to be eco-friendly by US standards. We also use recycled gold and silver plating, a very hard process to come by but over the years we have mastered this coating process so it is extremely deep and doesn't flake!

My product came broken, what do I do?

If your item is broken upon delivery, please contact us imediatley for a replacement. We will send you a return shipping label & send you out a new one ASAP.

How often do you restock products?

We usually produce in small quantites. If the item is out of stock, if we are restocking it will usually be available a month after.

We offer exchanges for store credit within 7 days of receiving your order, all items must be unworn. This excluding orders using discount codes & sale items. A gift card will be issued upon return & inspection.

How much does it cost to ship my order?

We offer real time shipping rates depending on your address. At the checkout, your shipping cost will be calculated.USPS is our domestic carrier & DHL is our International carrier.  

I didn't receive my order conformation or tracking number, where can I find it?

How can I track my order?

A tracking number will be provided when your order has been shipped. Please be patient, as tracking information can take a few days to update. To track the progress of your order, please visit USPS for domestic or DHL for international orders.

Will I have to pay any duties on top of my International order?

Customers have the option to pay Taxes & Duties before hand or upon arrival, but some countries do require it before hand.

Upon delivery, if you do not pay DHL the Taxes & Duties due by your countries customs office your order will be forfeited and not refunded. Please send us an email with any questions regarding International shipping charges you're unsure about. 

My item is lost in the mail, what do I do?

We are not responsible for items that are lost or damaged during shipping. You are also responsible for your order if you enter the wrong shipping address. Please email us immediately if you enter information incorrectly, we will update your order if it has not been shipped yet. 

Do you ship to my country?

Most likely yes, with a few exceptions! You can proceed to the checkout and our system will let you know.

When will my order arrive?

Your order is packed and shipped within 1-3 days of your purchase. Please advise this when choosing 1-Day Shipping option.

• Average delivery time for domestic orders is 3-7 business days.
• Average delivery time for international orders is 5-10 business days via DHL only. Note that International pick-ups are on Monday & Thursday - this could delay your order. 

After your order is shipped from our warehouse, it is out of our hands. We are not responsible for lost packages, missed deliveries or undeliverable addresses. If you have a question concerning tracking or shipping for domestic orders, please contact USPS.

We ship Tuesdays & Fridays, with the exception of USA holidays on California Pacific Time.

What if my package was returned to sender?

If your package is returned to us for any reason you will be responsible for paying for the package to be sent again.
